CTC Splicer
The CTC splicer unit dispenses web material to create the pouches, and features automatic splicing to provide a continuous supply of web stock.

Edge Guide System
The position of the edge of the web will will vary slightly as the web unwinds. The web passes between the edge of the guide sensors which monitor the position of the web. The correction roller swivels to keep the web aligned with the plow.

Plow
The web is horizontally over the Plow, forming a lengthwise fold near the centerline of the web. The web is folded slight off- center to leave a small “lip” used to open pouches. The folded web is vertical as it leaves the Plow and passes between the Former Blades to complete the fold. The Web then Passes through the creasing roller assembly where the fold is creased into the web.

Vertical Sealer
The web wraps around the Vertical Sealer unit that forms the vertical pouch seals. While moving around the sealer, the web rides on heated “lands” that fuse the sealant lining of the web. The web between the lands receives no direct heat and does not seal. A pressure roller lightly presses the web against the lands jut before the web leaves the Vertical Sealer to aid seal formation.

Tear Notcher
As the web is pulled between the Tear Notcher and its back-up roller, a notch is created in the top edge of the web. The phasing of the Tear Notcher can be adjusted. To allow placement of the notch anywhere along the web’s top edge.

Cooling Roller
The Cooling Roller has two functions. First, the vertically sealed web is pulled around the Cooling Roller to allow the seals time to set before the pouches are filled. Second, the Cooling Roller rotates on a manually-operated screw that can be adjusted to alter the web position and align the vertical seals to the filler wheel vacuum lands.

Tucking Rollers
The three Tucking Rollers guide the web onto the vacuum lands of the filler wheel. The rollers are arranged so that the web winds through them in an S-shaped path to maintain proper tension.

Filler Wheel Assembly
As the web’s vertical seals are positioned on the vacuum lands by the Tucking Rollers, air jets b low through the empty Filler Wheel spouts and against the web lip to completely open each pouch. A tucker located between each pair of vacuum lands rises up below each pouch to create a tuck in the bottom off the pouch to aid pouch opening.

Top Sealer
The pouches cloys as the web is pulled from the Filler Wheel. As the web of closed pouches passes through the Top Sealer, the top seal area is heated by hot air to seal the pouches.

Second Feed Rollers
The Second Feed Rollers, located just downstream from the top sealer, pull the web from the filler wheel and compress the top seal.

Knife and Transfer Section
The Knife operates independently from the rest of the Pouch King to receive pouches that are completely formed, filled, and sealed but still strung together. The Knife cuts the pouches apart and passes them to the Transfer.

Pin Conveyors
The Pin Conveyors receive cut pouches from the Knife’s transfer wheels and move them to the Mark III Transfer. While the larger pouches take an unobstructed route to the Mark III on lanes 3 and 4, the smaller pouches on lanes 1 and 2 make a right-angle change in direction before reaching the Mark III.
